This policy explains what personal information RadioFusion collects when you use this website, why, how long we keep it and the choices you have. We only collect what we need to run the station's website, the Listener Club and our competitions, and we never sell your details.
Who we are
This website is run by RadioFusion Ltd, 12 Example Street, London, AB1 2CD, United Kingdom. We are the "controller" of the personal information described here.
For any privacy question or request, email privacy@example.com.
What we collect and why
| When you… | We collect | Why (lawful basis) |
|---|---|---|
| Join the Listener Club | Name, email, and if you choose: phone, town, birthday, favourite show, newsletter and shout-out preferences | To run your membership and the features you ask for (contract). Newsletter and birthday shout-outs only with your consent. |
| Enter a competition | Your answer and the time you entered, linked to your membership | To run the competition and contact winners (contract) |
| Request a song or send a dedication | First name, where you're listening, your dedication and the song | To pass your request to the studio (legitimate interests). It may be read on air. |
| Message the studio | Name, your message and any phone/email you give | To read and reply to your message (legitimate interests). We only read it on air if you tick the box. |
| Use the Contact or Advertise forms | Name, email, phone, business name and your message | To answer your enquiry (legitimate interests / steps before a contract) |
| Vote in a poll | Which answer you chose, linked to your membership | To count votes fairly, one per member (contract) |
| Ask for show reminders | Which shows you want reminding about | To send the reminders you asked for (contract) |
To stop the forms being abused we also store a one-way scrambled ("hashed") version of your IP address with requests and messages, which can't be turned back into your IP address.
Listening, likes and things stored on your device
When you listen live, your device connects directly to our streaming server, which (like any web server) sees your IP address. Your like/dislike votes, volume level and chosen country site are stored only on your own device (browser "local storage"); the vote totals we keep are anonymous. See our cookie notice for details.
Other companies that see your information
To show parts of this website, your browser loads content directly from these services, which therefore receive your IP address and basic browser information:
- Google Fonts (Google) - the website's typeface
- cdnjs (Cloudflare) and jsDelivr - icons and flags
- Apple - only if you press "Play preview" on a song page (the 30-second clip comes from Apple)
- News publishers, Ticketmaster and our station server - for news, event and album pictures
Weather, news headlines, lyrics and event listings are fetched by our own server, so those providers don't see your details.
We use a hosting company to run this website and store the data above; it acts on our instructions. If an email service is used to send our newsletter, we will name it here. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, we rely on adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Club membership: until you leave, or after 2 years with no activity
- Competition entries: 12 months after the competition closes (winners' names longer, for our records)
- Song requests and studio messages: deleted a week after they've been handled, and in any case within 90 days
- Poll votes: who voted is deleted 12 months after the poll closes (we keep the anonymous totals)
- Contact and advertising enquiries: up to 2 years
Winners and what we say on air
If you win, we may announce your first name and town on air and on the website. Birthday shout-outs use your first name and town only. We will never read out your surname, contact details or anything you haven't agreed to.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to take it elsewhere (portability), and to withdraw consent at any time.
Club members can change their preferences or delete their membership at any time using the link in our emails, or by emailing privacy@example.com. We will reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we handle your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk - but please contact us first so we can try to put it right.
Children
The Listener Club is for people aged 16 and over, and some competitions are 18+. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced to club members by email.
